Recent graduate Cathrine Saga shares her love for others and creative way for teaching English


The soft-spoken Cathrine Saga graduated in December 2018 with a degree in TESOL and plans to teach in her home country of Malaysia. Her friends and family describe her as a kind and creative person willing to work hard for her students.

Remembered as a mother who put her family and others first despite battling cancer for more than seven years, Wendy Sorensen Vaka was honored by her children and siblings at her funeral services on Nov. 24 at the Laie Hawaii Stake Center.

Josh Mason, a BYU–Hawaii alumnus, addressed the Students for Light Club on Nov. 1, encouraging them to take every opportunity in college. Although Mason said he double majored in psychology and music at BYUH, he now has a job in politics.

New communications and media professor Mason Allred says he is grateful to be back, wants to help students connect with local culture


New BYU-Hawaii communications and media professor from Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Mason Allred, shared his journey from being a BYUH student to moving to Germany for his dissertation. From his family’s experiences in Germany, he said they were able to grow closer through the language.
