Alumnus applies skills learned at campus garden to sustain flooding Kiribati

Eritai Kateibwi, a Fall 2016 business alumnus, has set out to save his home country Kiribati, which is being overrun by flooding, by preventing crops from being submerged through a hydroponics farming water system he learned through BYU-Hawaii’s Sustainable World Action and Technology Team.

Hawaii launches initiative to lower energy costs

Sustainability World Action and Technology Team, otherwise known as SWATT, has been hard at work over the last several months analyzing and calculating ways to potentially save BYU-Hawaii hundreds of thousands of dollars each year from the annual $5 million of consumption.
