GMO bill back up for debate in Hawaii

A bill concerning genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) was recently reintroduced by Hawaii County Councilwoman, Brenda Ford. The previously rejected bill in Sept. 2013 was brought back earlier this month.

BYUH athletes spend day with Laie school children

The sun came out to play with the children of Laie Elementary School and the athletes of BYU-Hawaii on Nov. 16 for a “Day with the Athletes.” About 300 children and parents arrived to learn about the importance of health and wellness.

“When I graduate I will…” were the words posted on a giant chalkboard outside the McKay Auditorium and Aloha Center on Nov. 18 and 19. The words invited students to come and write down their dreams, hopes and goals for the future.

Entrepreneurs and students pitch business ideas at conference

The Great Ideas Conference gave BYU-Hawaii students a chance to showcase business and technical skills by presenting their ideas during three days of activities in mid-November. Several students won cash prizes for their ideas’ usefulness, viability, and long-term survivability.
