The College of Business, Computing and Government EXPO attracted students from a range of majors to make connections and gain experience for present or future endeavors. It was held on April 7 in the HGB.
Exur Garcia, the event organizer and a senior accounting major from The Philippines, said, “we set up decorations, food and booths to invite students to come.”
He explained when he attended this event 2 years ago, he was able to build connections which got him an internship in The Philippines. “This event can prepare you for your career in the future and to interact with others,” continued Garcia.
Brent White, faculty advisor of the professional Accounting Society and an accounting professor, said, “This is a chance for students to know all of the professional clubs in the business school. We have the Accounting Society, Supply Chain and Operations Society and many others here that can give insight to students.”
Roger Zavala, a sophomore business major from Honduras, found the EXPO to be a great opportunity to find out more about his major and its opportunities. “It was good to expand my knowledge and career and gain a lot of tips from different societies,” said Zavala.
Students not majoring in business could also gain from the event, according to Marco Hadisurya, a senior biochemistry major from Indonesia. “I came and joined the United Nations society because I think I can learn about human rights and serve the society well. By joining other societies, we can enhance our abilities and be more well-rounded,” said Hadisurya.
