Ryan Sandberg, a sophomore from Utah majoring in business management

George Washington because “he didn’t want to be a president, and I think he was just the purest form of actual democracy.”

Aidan Clifford, a freshman from Alaska majoring in psychology

Abraham Lincoln is number one because he was “honest and seemed to care about American people and what was good for them.” He respects President Lincoln’s efforts of abolishing slavery in the U.S. “He did a lot of amazing things for the country to bring the country forward.”

Sterling McCracken, a junior from Utah majoring in peace building

She loves Abraham Lincoln because “he did a lot of things for the nation, and he inspired so much change, especially in the Gettysburg address. That’s something that I still read, and [it] really inspires me.”

Gabriella Mora, a freshman from Texas majoring in biochemistry

She likes Barack Obama the best because she thinks he is very resilient as a first black president of the nation. He “tried to implement everything that he has promised” despite the challenges he faced from the Congress.

Allison Schellenberg, a freshman from Utah, majoring in biology

Abraham Lincoln is her favorite president because one of his quotes still touches her heart: “Whatever you are, be the good one.” She found it to be a very “encouraging and uplifting message,” and she feels the potential of all of us becoming the best we can, no matter what position we are standing in now.
