Foodland customers that re-enroll or enroll for the first time in the new Maika’i Foodland membership will receive a $5 thank you gift card to Foodland and save money on over 1,000 items at Foodland by being a member.

“We have relaunched the program to make it more rewarding and more convenient for people to use,” said Jason Ushijima, the assistant director of marketing at Foodland and Kaneohe resident.

Ushijima said it is easy to re-enroll in the new program. If a customer is not already a member at Foodland, they need to give the cashier their phone number, and they will be signed up. For members of the old Foodland membership, they can re-enroll online at maikai.foodland.com or visit the customer service desk at the front of the store. The new membership is free for new and existing members.

“It’s a way of giving back to our customers,” said Ushijima about Foodland’s new loyalty program. This new program is entirely paperless and the reward system will now be accessible through customers’ online accounts, and their membership will be accessible in-store through their phone number, explained Ushijima.

The old membership rewarded members with a certificate once they reached 250 points while the new membership allows members to continue earning points and redeem them at any time, shared Ushijima. He explained customers could redeem their points for rewards such as a Foodland gift card or Hawaiian Airline miles.
