With the doors of the new clothing retailer H&M opening in Honolulu on March 27, excited students headed to town ready to add to their closets. Located in the heart of the Waikiki strip, the new store saw over 1,200 customers line up to be some of the first shoppers. Male and female students said they appreciate the style of H&M. Another perk they said they enjoy is the affordability. Junior John Hales from California, majoring in business marketing, said, “It’s the freshest and cheapest place to shop for guys. Classy European style with way cheap price tags.” H&M helped student customers even more by treating them with a student I.D. to 15 percent off their entire purchase during the first month of operation. Hales was also pleased with the size of the new store. He said, “The H&M in Honolulu is huge!” TLexi Copley, a junior studying exercise sports science from Nevada said, “I was so happy H&M opened because I love that store. They have such cute stuff and I was dying without one on the island.” She said being able to go into town with friends who were just excited as her to shop made for a successful weekend. Students at the University of Hawaii also approved of the store's opening. Sydney Paderna, a UH student and writer at campus.com, said, “The store itself was semi-busy but not too hectic where the lines were long and the sales associates were too busy to help you.”President of H&M North America, Daniel Kulle, agreed with his customers and said, “We want to thank the people of Hawaii for a successful kick off of H&M's first store in the islands. Hawaii's warm reception and pure aloha played a key role in making this grand opening special.”The address of the new store is 2270 Kalakaua Avenue in the Waikiki Business Plaza and the store's phone number is 855-466-7467. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
