The new Marriott Courtyard hotel in Laie will be opening on June 29 and residents living along the North Shore from Kaaawa to Waimea can try out the hotel at special introductory rates good from June 29 to July 18, 2015, reports Envision Laie.
"I've been approached by many community members, eager to stay during the first days of opening, wanting to a part of the hotel's history," said General Manager Dave Betham in the announcement. He added, "They would like to be recorded as one the hotel's first guests, and we appreciate that enthusiasm and local support."
The special introductory rates are $139 a night for a king room that sleeps up to 3, Envision Laie says, and a double queen room that sleeps 4 will be $149. Beginning July 19, the regular Kama'aina rate for all Hawaii residents will begin at $189 a night. There are larger rooms and suites also available.

The management team of the new hotel includes several Kahuku High School and BYU–Hawaii alumni, says Envision Laie information. General Manager Betham is a long-time Laie resident and his wife, Cindy, has taught at Laie Elementary School for more than 20 years. He graduated from BYUH and has worked in the travel and tourism industry for 30 years, including at the Turtle Bay Hilton and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Assistant General Manager Micah Casey was born and raised in Punaluu and lives in Hauula with his wife, Terava, and family. He is a BYUH graduate and has worked with Marriott for more than seven years.
Executive Housekeeper Uheina Hanohano, known as Heina, was born and raised in Kahuku and lives in Laie with her husband, Clayton. She is also a BYUH graduate and has more than nine years of experience in the industry.
A BYUH graduate and a longtime employee of the university, Iafeta Sao is the director of Maintenance/Engineering. He lives with his wife, Linda and family in Hauula.
Director of Sales Milton Laiftaga was born on Oahu and lives with his wife and family in Kahaluu. He is a former BYUH student and has worked in the hotel industry for 15 years.
Additionally, the hotel will feature artwork by famed, local surf photographer Jon Mozo. Jon and his wife, Nikki Mozo, both graduated from BYUH. The address of the new 144-room hotel Courtyard Oahu North Shore is 55-400 Kamehameha Highway, next door to the PCC, and is near BYUH and the Laie Hawaii Temple.
The hotel will be operated “as a Marriott franchise, managed by Lodging Dynamics Hospitality Group of Provo, Utah,” says Envision Laie.
“The three-story hotel features an upgraded outdoor swimming pool with a waterfall, kids' pool and hot tub. A 24-hour fitness center and guest laundry is also available, and the property offers 1,600 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 100 people,” it says.
“The lobby also features The Bistro - Eat. Drink. Connect®, offering casual, flexible seating; easy access to food and high quality, healthy menu options for breakfast; and light evening fare, including snacks, so guests can unwind.”
The rooms feature “local island-style furnishings and large, spacious standard rooms, with suites also available,” it continues, and the hotel will have Wi-Fi and wired access. The hotel sits on the property of the old Laie Inn, Chevron gas station and former McDonald’s, which were torn down to give space to build the Marriott.
A new McDonald’s is being constructed next to the hotel and a new Aloha Foodland gas station is being built in the Laie Shopping Center next to where the former L&L’s restaurant was. L&L’s was relocated next to Taco Bell in the shopping center and its former building torn down. The new McDonald’s and gas station are projected to open in the fall.
