Kimchi’s flavor depends on how it is prepared, said Park Yerang a freshman from South Korea majoring in graphic design. She said the classic cabbage kimchi with red pepper has a spicy kick to it, even though the cabbage itself is cold. She said white kimchi is the opposite, because it does not have the peppers to give it spice, it has a pungent sour taste, which in combination with the fact it is also cold makes it nice to eat in the summer.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Maria-Onore were among nine people who were killed in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, said Alex Villanueva, the Los Angeles County sheriff, during a news conference. Bryant was 41 while his daughter Gianna was 13.

Community members say carvings, reliefs and sculptures at the Laie Hawaii Temple tell histories and stories

The Laie Hawaii Temple includes several pieces of art from the friezes near the top of the temple to the sculptures around it, and members of the Laie community said this art tells a story. Kap Te’o Tafiti, a carver, sculptor, performer and senior cultural ambassador at the Polynesian Cultural Center, said all the art he creates has a purpose. He said in regards to art, its purpose is to tell a story.
