The following article was written as a final project for COMM 323.
The political science department took 11 students and four professors on a six-day trip to Washington D.C. from May 9-16 to meet with and interview politicians, lobbyists, and political leaders about their jobs and how they got them. Students said the politicians they met with taught them about the importance of continuing to seek knowledge, even after graduating.
Curtis Delfin, a sophomore political science major from Guam, said, “Our objective was to network with people and to conduct interviews with people whom we are interested in working with. For the most part, our whole class would sit down with the individuals at once and have Q&A’s with them to learn about them and to learn about how we can work our ways up to get to where they are.”
