Before becoming a professor at BYU–Hawaii, Dr. Lenard Huff said he taught in several universities such as the University of Phoenix. After teaching for five years at the University of Hawaii, he said he read a Church News post saying BYUH needed a new marketing professor.
The Philippine Independence Day was celebrated two days early on June 10 through a cultural night at the BYU–Hawaii Cafeteria where not only Filipinos gathered to enjoy a special food menu, but students from different countries enjoyed the food as well.
After dancing for hours with sombreros and piñatas on their heads and wiping the sweat off their faces and backs, students agreed the “Fiesta Night” dance, hosted by Seasider Sports and Activities, was a great way to network and interact with their classmates.

A variety of dancing styles such as Irish step, Bollywood, hip hop and Latin American dancing were showcased by five different groups on May 24 in the McKay Gymnasium.
Undeterred by the rain, hundreds of students gathered at the BYU-Hawaii swimming pool for the Dive In movie activity on Oct. 5 hosted by Seasider Sports and Activities.
Elementary students made their way through the McKay Auditorium stage as student drummers kept the audience and performers dancing during the BYU–Hawaii Shaka Steel performance on March 28. Audience members said the concert created a strong sense of community because of the joint effort from BYUH students and children in the Laie area.
