Seasider Snackbar releases new menu item called the walnut drip acai bowl, including Nutella, peanut butter, coconut and chocolate chips

Students and faculty members share their appeal to different menu items from the seasider grill, the deli bar and the C-Store.

The new drip


The Seasider Snackbar announced its new menu item, the waldrip acai bowl, which includes ingredients such as peanut butter, Nutella, coconut, and chocolate chips.

Kobi Hough, a freshman English major from Gilbert, Arizona, works at the deli bar. She said she and her crew came up with the idea of the walnut drip acai bowl last semester because customers would ask for peanut butter or Nutella as side items or toppings. In addition, she said acai bowls “with Nutella or peanut butter have been hot commodities at other places.”

Due to a shortage of resources, she explained they haven’t been able to sell the bowl until this semester. Upon receiving the materials they needed, she said they began experimenting with the ingredients to see what they could do with them.

C-Store


Anaïs Fry, a freshman from Boston, Massachusetts majoring in social work, said she enjoys the Naked Juice from the C-Store. The mango-flavored juice, she said, is very thick and tastes more like a smoothie. “I like it because if I don’t have time to eat breakfast, it’s pretty filling and it’s still good.”

Hough said she enjoys sushi from the C-Store. She said there aren't a lot of sushi places in Laie and the C-Store is the closest place to get sushi.

Deli bar


Nephi Garcia, a freshman from the Philippines majoring in business management, shared he enjoys the panini sandwiches from the deli bar because of the cucumber, pickles, tomatoes and the meat. “I like the cool and wet moisture [they add] to the panini.” The crunchiness of the sandwich is satisfying to him, he added.

Charles Bradshaw, an associate professor in the Faculty of Arts & Letters, said he enjoys eating the roast beef panini sandwich from the deli bar. The toppings include the pepper, spinach and olives, which makes it like a pizza sandwich, he added.

He said he enjoys the blend of crunchiness and crispiness of the sandwich. “They cook it really well. … It gets crispy on the outside before the middle gets overdone.”

Brigham Gomez Perez, a sophomore from Richfield, Utah, majoring in business management, shared he enjoys eating the Seasider Snackbar’s acai bowl because of the combination of the fruits and the lilikoi juice, which make it a healthy treat. He said there are more flavors in Hawaii which are fresher than on the mainland.
