The Student Schedule Planner program in the student center website aims can play a big role in students’ registration to classes by catering to their preferences, according to Jennifer Lane, associate Academic Vice President for Curriculum and a religion professor.
Spencer Choi, a freshman TESOL major from Korea, found the program very useful. “It is easier for me because with the pressure to choose classes before a deadline or before it is full, this makes it more organized,” said Choi.
Lane said the program is an addition to the PeopleSoft, or mybyuh, program where students register for classes. “Peoplesoft was made 20 years ago, and although it still has really good functionality, the student schedule planner is more modern and has more options for students,” said Lane.
She said the program helps students see options that they are interested in and exclude options that are not helpful to them. “The schedule planner picks up the classes available and then students can use the planner to determine the classes that work well with their break and work time,” said Lane.
She said she hopes this planner will help students save time and see their schedule they build it. Iris Woo, a junior biology major from Hong Kong and assistant to Lane, said she is excited to share this tool with other students.
“I’ve held a booth here in the Aloha Center for two weeks, and we’ve given out fliers so hopefully people will try the program,” said Woo. The program’s benefits include a more streamlined process. “Also, you don’t need to look up course numbers one by one, and is just visually clearer,” added Woo.
