Volleyball team is regional champs, going to nationals

After an incredible five-set comeback victory to earn the regional title, the BYU–Hawaii women's volleyball team will now play Ferris State in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 2:30 p.m. CT/10:30 a.m. HT.

All matches will be held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Both two seeds, Ferris State (25-8), out of Big Rapids, Mich, and BYU–Hawaii (27-1) are coming off 3-2 victories in the championship match of each region. The Bulldogs and Seasiders took down the No. 1 seeds in their respective region to punch their ticket to the national quarterfinals.

The Seasiders are making their second consecutive appearance at the national tournament after making a run to the semifinals last season. Along with the BYU–Hawaii and Ferris State, the other six participants include LIU-Post, West Texas A&M, Tampa, Concordia-St. Paul, Wingate and Wheeling Jesuit. A pre-tournament press conference featuring all eight teams will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 starting at 6:25 p.m. CT/2:25 p.m. HT.

Tickets will be sold at the U.S. Cellular Center at the event and the prices for a single session are $12 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens along with $2 for a child. An all-session ticket can be purchased for either $30 for adults or $15 for students/seniors. Spectator parking for the tournament will be available at and around the U.S. Cellular Center. Complete coverage of the Elite Eight, including schedules, brackets, live statistics, and video will be available thru the NCAA website with links available later this week at the BYU–Hawaii Sports website.
