From dorms to homecoming queens, BYU-Hawaii alumni John Olszowka, aka John O., has seen development and changes at BYUH for the past 43 years. Olszowka came to school in 1972, lived in the dorms till 1986, and continued working at the university from 1988 until early 2015, when he decided to retire.

In an attempt to reduce the growing amount of plastics found in the waste stream of Oahu, the county of Honolulu has passed a ban on the use of plastic bags for stores not in the prepared foods category, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

Every semester students may have some new experiences like new classmates, getting a new job, new co-workers, etc. Another is having new roommates and housemates.

The newest apps for artistic endeavors are becoming more and more streamlined and simple. Through the following apps, people are able to create videos, photography and music like never before.

Dr. Marcus H. Martins, former Department Chair of BYU–Hawaii’s Department of Religion, returned home in August 2014 from serving as a mission president in Brazil São Paulo North Mission. He served from July 2011 to July 2014 with his wife, Mirian Abelin Barbosa.

About 58 BYU–Hawaii employees were honored for their time working at the university, totaling 800 years of combined service, and another 19 people received exemplary employee awards at the annual Ho’omaika’i dinner and dance on March 5 in the Cannon Activities Center.
