Students gathered in the Cannon Activities Center on March 5 as Dr. Neil J. Anderson invited those in attendance to listen closely to what the Holy Ghost taught them. During his message, Anderson discussed how students can act well their part to build Zion both on the campus as well as in the community.
Students gathered to de-stress from school on Feb. 27 through participation in art therapy. Counseling and Disability Services provided students with the opportunity to make crafts, such as origami, along with coloring sheets to relax from the stress of school, all while eating cookies.
As foam-tipped arrows sailed over the Soccer Field on Feb. 22, students competed in co-ed groups of five to see who would come out on top of the second annual Archery Tag Competition. The event, hosted by Seasider Sports & Activities, involved friendly competition, food and music. The winners were Team Manapua.
At the 92nd Academy Awards, writer-director Taika Waititi, from New Zealand, made history on Feb. 9 as he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film “Jojo Rabbit.” This was Waititi’s third Oscar nomination and first win, and he is the first person of Maori descent, and the first ever indigenous person to be nominated in that category, according to the Los Angeles Times.
To celebrate the 65th birthday of BYU–Hawaii, students and faculty gathered in the Aloha Center on Feb. 12 to share cake, favorite memories of exploring new cultures and predictions of the growth of the university over the next 65 years.
The Cannon Activities Center was filled during the devotional on Jan. 28 as Elder Russell and Sister Lola Osguthorpe said finding the way back to one’s heavenly home is through learning, having proper motives and drawing on the Atonement.
