The Ewa Train, a train operated by the Hawaiian Railway Society, used to deliver 10,000 tons of sugar, pineapple, mail, military supplies, food supplies and about 130,000 passengers annually, said on-site displays. Since the Hawaiian Railway Society completed restoration work on the railway in 1972, people have ridden the Ewa Train to experience educational, entertaining tours preserving the history of Oahu.
After eight years of preparation and construction, the Banyan Dining Hall is a combination of community memories, Hawaiian culture and BYU–Hawaii’s diversity in a modern setting.

More than 100 BYU–Hawaii students with conference name tags presented more than 80 undergraduate research projects in various McKay and Science Building locations at the Undergraduate Research Conference on March 31. In the Science Building, third-floor hallways and classrooms walls were covered with research posters and presenters stood by them to present to individuals and groups.

When President Sidney J. Bassett returned to graduate school in his 50s, he said he felt he did not belong in many ways. In his first online class, he shared he was discouraged, embarrassed and his confidence was shot from everyone ignoring and talking over him. He explained he later realized that he had been on mute the entire time. He unmuted, waited his turn, then jumped in to be heard. “It wasn’t profound in any way, but at that moment, I chose to belong.”
